Sointula
Matt had 2 days off for the long weekend so we decided to check out Sointula. Matt's brother and family had been a few weeks before and told us how great it was. We loaded the van sat night and headed north. We made it to Eve river, a rest stop for overnighters, and camped there for the night. We had a 'sleep in' sunday morning, ate the breakfast of champions - bacon and eggs, and headed to Port Mcneil. We boarded the 1:30 ferry to Malcom Island. About 3 1/5 kms from 'town' was the campsite we stayed at 'harmony shores.' It was a great little site, running water, hot showers, flush toilets, firewood all for the bargin price of $20/night. Not too bad. We spent alot of time on the beach and wished that we had brought the bikes but next time. We managed to do some island exploring the next day before catching the ferry back to Vancouver Island and starting the long drive home. The Island was beautiful and remenisent of Cumberland. We hope to make it over again before the summer is over for a longer visit this time.
