Our first night in Baja- San Isidro

After the shock and dismay of blasting across the Mexican border, driving mad roads, dodgeing Mexican drivers ( who in my humble opinion drive like Albertans on acid ) figuring out a game plan for the night, we came to rest on this deadly bluff outside Erendira. It was way weird driving into that town....The turnoff was well marked but we missed it and had to get directions and beer from a local business. After a quick anglospanish interaction we learned where Becky had not told me to turn ( lol ). The road was great for the first 2-3kms then took a turn for the worst. Potholes that could eat the Van in one mouthfull, blind corners and of course Mexican drivers on acid. After 20kms we rounded a corner and the pavement stopped and Erendira began. Perched on some sweet red cliffs, Erendira was and still is I suppose a hot commercial fishing spot...Now tho, like all things fishing, the fish have dried up and it's more muscles and cod. So the town was alive with people even though it was Sunday. We cruized through at 5kmph not because we were listening to tunes and you know " cruizin the strip", but because the road was horrid. By the ammount of potholes in the red earth road, it looked as though it had been cluster bombed. So there we were in Mexico, no real idea of where to stay, and nothing but a surf guide and an ancient dilapidated loaned map. My non traveling English sensabilities being disrupted by my adventure seeking, pushy significant other ( lub u Becks ) told me to get a hotel. But, what would turn out to be a theme of our " by the seat of our pants" trip we rounded " one more corner" and we saw the first " campo Del Wortsey". Beautiful spot up on some fantastic cliffs away from town. The cliffs were only slightly dangerous for us adults, however the Tumps had to be directed away from the cliffs for her wonderings...A great sunset. A great spot for us to enjoy our first night in Mexico as a family...Maybe Becky was right and I needed to get down here and maybe the mayhem of LA's traffic had been worth it. With waves licking the red rock cliffs we settled down and drifted off to sleep.....in freakin Baja.

The Wortsey's family vacation - Day 1 San Isidro

day 1 - This is our first day in the Baja, Mexico after a 5 day drive down. We camped on a bluff close to where this pic was taken. We walked over to this point and climbed to the top. Hooray we made it!!!
